T&R肉廠在澳洲南方的墨瑞橋鎮，儲存是南澳最大的牛、羊肉工廠，因勞工需求量大，吸引許多赴澳打工旅遊的外國人聚集，曾在該肉廠打工的民眾張小姐昨估計，在T&R肉廠打工的台灣和香港人合計約300多人，且很多都是由仲介公司找來的黑工，而肉廠工資較高，每小時可拿到澳幣17元、折合472元台幣。因此吸引不少打工族求職。 須面臨龐大醫費 張小姐說，肉廠打工依部門不同，危險程度也有差別，例如包裝等產線危險性較低、屠宰部門危險性高。由於勞工需求量大，肉廠透過會講中文的仲介找打工者，但仲介公司都會從中抽佣，且未依法為打工者提撥退休金及申報所得稅，而形成所謂「黑工」；黑工不但會面臨澳洲政府追稅，且部分仲介連醫療保險也不給打工者投保，一旦生病或受傷就得面臨龐大醫費。 曾在澳洲打工迷你倉個多月，且白工、黑工都做過的謝博揚指，去年剛到澳洲時透過各種管道找白工，但這須由業主釋出職缺、求職者投履歷，並經審核、面談後才決定是否錄取，等待期甚至長達數月；肉廠因勞工需求大，因此透過仲介整批找人，很多打工族如大多數的台灣人不想等待，就會透過仲介進入肉廠打黑工。 謝博揚說，肉廠某些部門具危險性，工作前須先打疫苗以防細菌感染，但打了疫苗又可能造成過敏；另肉廠是低溫環境，易有凍傷等職業傷害，他考量後改到農場工作。 「盼能提供保險」 現正在澳洲一處雞肉廠打工的陳俐婷昨說，打工簽證時間僅1年，不想花時間等工作，才透過仲介找到現在的工作，了解自己做的是比較沒保障的黑工，但也只能自求多福，希望政府能透過外交管道，強制要求業者若透過仲介找外籍打工者，須提供保險。記者劉嘉韻self storage

Five professional storytellers offer tips on how to tell a good storyOnce a popular leisure pursuit, storytelling is fast falling out of favour as people turn to movies, digital games and the Internet for entertainment.儲存But professional storytellers - those who are paid to tell stories to audiences of all ages and lead storytelling workshops - say it is important to carry on the tradition of storytelling as it puts people in touch with their cultural roots.Kamini Ramachandran, 44, who grew up hearing about Indian folklore told to her by her grandfather, became a professional storyteller 11 years ago partly to remind people of this oral tradition."In the past, we had shamans, troubadours and village elders whose responsibility it was to pass these stories on to the next generation. But the children have moved on, found other ways to make a living, and the tradition is dying out," says the mother of two boys.Storytelling, say the professionals, is not the same as reading aloud. Rather, it is recounting a story from memory - be it a story from your own life, your family or your cultural tradition - and sharing it with other people in such a way that the story comes alive in their mind.The audience can be an auditorium of thousands or your child or partner at home, and the storyteller adapts the story, changing the words or details, to suit the audience.In 2004, Ramachandran and her friend, writer Verena Tay, 48, started a storytelling company called MoonShadow Stories. It promotes and shares stories, mostly Asian folktales, with adults.Tay says: "A lot of what we know and understand about the world comes from stories. If you want to learn about people, human nature, history, myths and legends, why not do so through stories?"They touch you on a fundamental, emotional and psychological level beyond just the intellect."President of the Storytelling Association (Singapore) Sheila Wee, 55, says this is due to the structure of the human brain.She says: "Scientific studies have shown that our brains are hard wired for stories. Information is much more likely to be remembered when shared in story form, rather than bare fact."It gives the material context and meaning. It can teach vocabulary, different perspectives and values, and how to connect and interact with other people."The Storytelling Association (Singapore) was set up in 2006 to promote the telling and learning of stories.Storytelling also develops the creativity of both the storyteller and the listener, by activating the same parts of the brain responsible for imagination."Words are the tools the teller or writer uses to create an image in the mind of the audience," Wee explains.But stories and the development of imagination that comes with them have fallen victim to the digital and visual age of movies, iPhones and YouTube, she adds. "If we want to see anything at any time, day or night, all we have to do is plug in. The part of the brain responsible for creating images doesn't have to work because the images are already there on the screen."Ramachandran says another reason people have stopped telling stories here is the lack of confidence, particularly with language.Her advice? Get over it. "It doesn't matter. You are not a newsreader," she says. "You are a storyteller telling your stories to your own kids. Don't put so much pressure on yourself. Do it in your own language or tell it in two languages if you need to. There's nothing wrong with that," she says.Life! gets tips from five professional storytellers to get you started.vlydia@sph.com.sgCHOOSE A STORYSheila Wee is one of the pioneers of storytelling in Singapore, having organised storytelling groups, meetings and training sessions here since 1999.The 55-year-old is a founding member of the Storytelling Association (Singapore) and is its current president.When she started as a storyteller, she says she was surprised to find that students here were familiar with Western folk and fairy tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood or Three Little Pigs, but did not know stories from their own cultures."It's important that children grow up listening to stories of their own cultural traditions because to feel you truly belong to a society, you must know its history, the stories of your people and of your family. It makes one feel rooted and secure in one's own identity," she says."If you grow up hearing the stories of other cultures, doesn't that lead you to feel that these other cultures are better than your own?"When choosing a story to tell, she says, it helps to start with folklore because "they are stories that have come from the oral tradition and have been honed for telling".She explains: "They are usually easy to learn as they have been passed down through the generations and are the closest to the original repetitions and patterns of oral stories."It is especially helpful to use stories that have been written by storytellers because they are usually done so in ethnopoetic script, which means they are written to emphasise the way the words should be said.One example of a good book to start with is Twenty Tellable Tales by American storyteller and folklorist Margaret Read MacDonald.Wee notes that the National Library in Singapore contains some of the best selections of storytelling books in the world. These can be found in the children's section or next to etiquette books in the adults' section.Fo迷你倉 Asian folklore, she says the best collection can be found at the Asian Children's Literature Collection at the Woodlands Regional Library.BE CONFIDENTRoger Jenkins, 60, started his career as an actor and a drama coach, but switched to storytelling in the early 2000s.He now holds storytelling sessions and workshops a few times each week.He has published two books on how to tell stories effectively for juniors and teens, and is releasing a DVD titled Parent's Guide To Storytelling next month."When acting in a play, you ignore or pretend to ignore the audience. With storytelling, it's all about eye contact, and interacting and feeding off the audience," he says."You need to be comfortable with yourself and you need to be able to look your audience in the eye."If you need help building up confidence, he suggests using a prop, such as a hat, scarf or shawl."Put the hat on or drape the shawl over your shoulder or on the chair. Once that is on, once you are in the storytelling chair, you take on another identity. You become the storyteller."And fret not if you forget something in the story or mix up the story's sequence, he advises."You can always use phrases such as 'something you don't know' or 'what I haven't told you is' to include those details or to backtrack. Remember that stories are very fluid and informal."STIMULATE THE IMAGINATIONVerena Tay, 48, is a storyteller, writer and co-founder of storytelling company MoonShadow Stories.She focuses on storytelling for an adult audience."One of the skills of storytelling is that you are taking the listeners to the realm of the imagination," she says. "You have to build images in their mind."To do that, she says you have to have the characters and the stories pictured very clearly in your mind."What do the characters look like? How do they move? And as you tell the story you focus on that image. It gives you a connection to the story and you will be able to make the story come alive for your audience."To lure listeners into the imagined world that you are creating, she suggests adapting the story and the words, speed, tempo, rhythm and style to the audience,"The main thing is that you connect to the story, that the story's sequence is clear in your imagination and that you are clear on what it is you see," she says."Of course, whether for a professional or for storytelling at home, tons of rehearsals and retelling the story will help make the transition from your head to your mouth a smooth one."ADAPT TO THE AUDIENCEKamini Ramachandran, 44, is vice-president of Storytelling Association (Singapore) and co-director of MoonShadow Stories, a company which organises storytelling sessions and workshops.She grew up listening to her grandfather's retelling of Indian folklore and shares tips on how to adapt a story to one's audience: "The younger they are, the more visual they are as learners, so the more visuals I will use. I will draw while I am telling a story, have a storyboard with pre-set images or I might use puppets."Children are also highly sensorial, so she sometimes provides physical examples of items in the story, such as a seed or a leaf, that can be passed around. "You need to keep the little ones engaged because their attention span is short and they are easily distracted."Teenagers are more challenging. "They want to be seen as cool so you don't go in with a story about talking animals or cute things because they will immediately think it's juvenile."Teens love to be scared, she says. Start with a slow pace, a low voice or tone and lots of eye contact, using a story that builds up excitement."They will see the story unfolding in their mind... They love being drawn into a world of horror and fear."Adults are open to any genre, including themes such as incest, sex, violence and religion, she notes."This allows you to deliver the story as it was meant to be told, undiluted," she says. "Fairy tales are not as straightforward as you might expect, for example. They often have aspects of homosexuality or horrific violence which you might alter for a younger audience."PLAY THE FOOLRosemarie Somaiah, 57, has been a professional storyteller since 2000. She is one of the founding members of the Storytelling Association (Singapore) and a partner of the professional storytelling company Asian Storytelling Network, through which she also leads storytelling workshops, mainly for school groups."Parents sometimes worry that they don't have the language skills to tell stories, but a story is about much more than just the words you use," she says. "Don't underestimate the effect of body language, pacing and pausing."Depending on the context and the audience, she says she "plays the fool" when telling stories in order to engage and communicate with the audience."I embarrass myself, use big hand gestures or roll on the floor if I need to," she explains."You need to be willing to make them laugh at you. That's the part you play as a storyteller... It's about telling the truth of humanity and honouring the voice of the common man."But being funny should not detract from the poignancy of a story or from its bizarre or interesting aspects, she adds."You must entertain your audience but, at the same time, you must not treat them as foolish. 趙洋在近日發佈的第三季度貨幣政策報告中，迷利倉央行表示，總體看，對下一階段的價格形勢不可盲目樂觀，物價上行壓力是存在的，要繼續引導、穩定好通脹預期。在“中國經濟穩中向好、經濟增長處在合理區間”的背景下，央行對價格形勢的上述判斷，立即引起各方的關注。盡管短期看中國通脹無憂，但引導好、穩定好通脹預期，防患于未然，始終是貨幣政策的重要目標，央行的上述表態，說明當局對未來物價形勢的高度關注。有分析認為，本次三季度貨幣政策報告與二季度報告最明顯的不同便是對宏觀經濟形勢分析的變化，即對增長擔憂下降，對通脹關注上升。善於捕捉措辭變化的分析人士發現，對於通脹，本次報告的表態是：“消費價格平穩運行的基礎還不是很穩固”、“四季度CPI同比漲幅也可能上行”，而此前表述是“物價形勢相對穩定”，這顯示了央行對通脹的擔憂加大。從今年以來的物價走勢看，當前中國尚沒有明顯通脹壓力，不過此前公佈的9月份CPI數據漲幅超出預期，還是令市場各方有所擔憂。國家統計局發佈的數據顯示，9月份，全國居民消費價格總水平同比上漲3.1%。其中，城市上漲3.0%，農村上漲3.3%。這是自今年2月份之後，我國CPI同比漲幅首度突破3%的通脹警戒線，創下7個月新高。這一數據高于之前市場的普遍預期，並逐漸逼近3.5%的“上限”。一些潛在的因素，的確令人對未來價格形勢不可盲目樂觀。在分析9月份CPI數 據漲幅超出預期時，不少觀點認為新漲價因素主要來自食品類中的非糧食因素，也就是蔬菜和豬肉價格等，也就是說主因是假日因素等導致消費上漲，而非新通脹周期已經開�，即便如此，通脹預期以及壓力等問題仍然備受市場關注。在三季度貨幣政策報告中，央行就表示，受勞動力、服務、租金價格存在上行壓力等影響，消費價格平穩運行的基礎還不很穩固，物價對總需求變化比較敏感，需求擴張對物價的壓力有增大的趨勢。近期受經濟回升推動，PPI降幅趨於收窄，加之有基數效應的影響，四季度CPI同比漲幅也可能上行，從而對通脹預期產生影響。除了上述因素外，房價的持續走高，也被認為會與價格走勢形成反饋效應，加大通脹壓力。近期公佈的一系列房地產數據顯示，當前房價依然呈現普漲格局，這一局面對於公�的預期有重要影響。央行指出，房地產價格出現一定上漲，尤其是一線城市迷你倉價上漲幅度較大，有可能向租金及其他相關領域傳導，增大成本壓力。隨著年底時間臨近以及多因素疊加，不少研究預測，四季度CPI有繼續走高的趨勢，即將公佈的10月份CPI同比漲幅可能在3%至3.5%之間。有券商研究認為，短期內，由於節假日及季節性因素，10月的菜價還在保持上漲態勢，預計10月的CPI 食品價格環比上升0.5%，非食品價格上漲0.1%。如此一來，CPI環比在0.2%，同比在3.3%左右。在CPI可能繼續小幅攀升的情況下，能否穩定好全社會的通脹預期，自然成為央行貨幣政策操作中的重要出發點。與國外大多數央行採取單一的通脹目標制不同，作為宏觀調控的重要組成部分，中國的貨幣政策是圍繞物價、經濟增長、就業和國際收支平衡等多個目標來制定的，需要縝密的統籌和權衡。這就要求貨幣政策必須加強對形勢的分析研判，根據經濟條件的變化在幾個目標間進行權衡取捨。從當前經濟形勢看，經濟增長處於合理區間。最新公佈的統計數據表明，三季度我國經濟穩中向好，重要的指標依然處於經濟增長合理區間的上下限內。比如三季度GDP同比增長7.8%，前三季度GDP同比增長7.7%，高于7.5%的年初預定目標。有分析指出，目前“經濟穩中向好，增長處於合理區間”的表述已經取代此前的“經濟總體平穩”。這一表述的變動，顯示出經濟企穩複蘇的態勢已經得到決策層確認。在這樣的形勢下，“不放鬆也不收緊銀根”的穩健貨幣政策，在把握好平衡點過程中，重心也會有所調整。對此，央行表示，把握好穩增長、調結構、促改革、防風險的平衡點，重點是創造一個穩定的貨幣金融環境，促使市場主體形成合理和穩定的預期，推動結構調整和轉型升級。“促使市場主體形成合理和穩定的預期”，當然包括要形成合理和穩定的通脹預期，而要完成這一目標，前提就是創造一個穩定的貨幣金融環境。在外貿順差繼續擴大外匯大幅流入的情況下，貨幣信貸擴張的壓力仍然較大，這為當前流動性管理提出了挑戰。央行將綜合運用數量、價格等多種貨幣政策工具組合，健全宏觀審慎政策框架，加強流動性總閘門的調節作用，引導貨幣信貸及社會融資規模平穩適度增長。可以說，只有保持定力，精准發力，努力創造一個穩定的貨幣金融環境，才能繼續引導、穩定好市場和公�的通脹預期，完成管理好經濟“上下限”的要求。自存倉
