Source: The Montana Standard, ButteJan.迷你倉出租 03--For the beginning of their Southwestern A encounter, the Dillon Beavers and the Anaconda Copperhead girls were a bit under the new year lethargy before things got heated up at the Snake Pit on Thursday night.Dillon would use a relentless attack on the rim, six 3-pointers and welcome a friendly face back into the fold to roll to a 48-28 win."I thought we got off to a good start with our defense and we were blocking out which was a key," Dillon head coach Gabe Walker said. "One of their strengths has been their offensive rebounding and Anaconda is scrappy, they have always been scrappy and I give them a lot of credit."The opening minutes were a bit sloppy as the teams worked to get the holiday dinners and Netflix marathons out of their systems. Dillon's Audrey Schurg banged a trey early for the only points in the first three minutes.Anaconda (2-3, 1-1) struggled to either get a clean look or to connect on their freer opportunities as the Beavers pushed their lead to 7-0 on four Courtney Linder free throws. Then sophomore Alex Rouse, playing in her first action since being cleared following a knee injury last spring, blistered the bottom of the nets with a cold-blooded, three-point bomb for a 10-0 Dillon (3-1, 1-0) lead at 3:28 of the first quarter."Christmas break we had tough practices but I think the nerves of the first conference game got to us a bit," Rouse said. "But in the second half we just knew we needed to win here."Walker was happy to see the sophomore, who broke out toward the end of last season, back on the court."She is a great kid and has worked so hard to get back to this point," he said. "Her teammates, they love her and she is a great teammate. With all the offensive skills and shooting you see, that's all great, but she's a better teammate. That gave us a boost tonight big time. We are glad to have her back."The host Copperheads finally broke the ice with 1:02 in the opening period on a Khali Knadler free throw as Dillon would lead 10-2 going into the second quarter. The next eight minutes started like the first did as neither team could get untracked offensively.Copperhead Kristy Hayden popped a triple with just under four minutes before halftime to pull her girls to within 10-6.Dillon's Holly Andersen stopped some of Anaconda's run with a three to put the Beavers up 13-7.The visitors led 16-9 at the intermission."We got those 10 points and then we got in a lull and that kind of worried me," Walker said. "Our girls just stuck with it, stuck with it, and they were able to ho迷你倉d the lead. Anaconda played hard and gave us all that we could handle."The offenses began to heat up after halftime as Anaconda's Courtney Moodry and Dillon's Jordan Peterson exchanged threes as the Beavers held firm to a 21-14 lead.A pair of bombs by Moodry and Hayden pulled the Anaconda girls to within 24-20 at just over four minutes left in the third.Rouse splashed in a triple of her own and Dillon inched back up 27-20 moments later. The teams had found their shooting touch.A late run, capped by a Brandi Lovaas jumper gave Dillon a 35-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.Rouse hit a third triple early on in the quarter and that helped keep Anaconda in the Beavers' rear view mirror at 38-24 with over six minutes to go."I've never felt better honestly and we were on all night," Rouse said. "We jumped to the ball and we have been working on that in practice. Our offense was a little slow in the first half, but in the second half we came out...and I don't know what more to say."The lids crept back over the hoops as the game closed and Dillon would leave the Smelter City with a first conference win with nine more such contests to go.Andersen, Linder, and Rouse all scored nine points apiece to lead Dillon."We are shooting the ball and have a few weapons, and don't have anyone that goes off," Walker said. "Hopefully we can get someone to do that, but we had good balance tonight. I am pleased."Moodry scored a team-high nine points for Anaconda."We started out slow, but our defense started to calm down our offense," Anaconda head coach Jessica Shanafelt said. "By halftime we were coming back, and in the third quarter we played well until we ran into that frantic, helter skelter going on out there. They hit a couple big shots and we let ourselves go down from there."Dillon 10 6 19 13 -- 48Anaconda 2 7 11 8 -- 28DILLON (3-1, 1-0)Jordan Peterson 2 0-1 6, Courtney Linder 1 7-9 9, Holly Andersen 4 0-0 9, Audrey Schurg 1 4-6 7, Cierra Lamey 1 4-7 6, Alex Rouse 3 0-0 9, Rachael Nye 0 0-0 0, Shelby Kluesner 0 0-0 0, Brandi Lovaas 1 0-0 2, Kylie Christiansen 0 1-2 1, Kathleen Tatarka 0 0-0 0, Nicole Thompson 0 0-0 0.
