Source: The Porterville Recorder, Calif.迷你倉Oct. 16--A bounce house, train rides, pie-eating contest, and a Super Hero theme booth are just some of the activities taking place from 12 to 3 p.m. Oct. 26 at Centennial Park in downtown Porterville during the second annual Parents Against Bullying Rally.The event will include speakers, games, music, food and booths offering resources and a lot of other educational information.Spearheaded by Michelle Reneau -- with help from her husband, Omar, and her friend Heather Parker -- the local mother decided it was time to stand against bullying last year after her own son had been bullied in school and she began hearing stories about children being bullied in schools. As she began planning the anti-bully rally, it coincided with the death by suicide of two young girls, one which is believed to have been bullied, furthering cementing the realization of the need for the rally."We had almost 1,500 people here last year. It was full force and such a great outpouring of people," she said. "Since then, lots of people keep asking us for advice on how to handle school situations and how to handle different parents. They are always asking for help. We will have a lot of resources out there and we'll be there to offer advice and any help."Among those with booths are theself storageSuicide Prevention Task Force, Mothers Against Gang Violence, Monache High School's Pivot Club, the Boys and Girls Club, and B.U.R.Y.B. -- Be you or why be. In addition, KJUG Radio will be at the event.Juicy Burger and Jamba Juice will also be at the park selling food.The event raises awareness of bullying and encourages people to talk about overcoming it, she said. It is an important message because children do not always understand the power of words and how severe the actions can be.That is where the T-shirt logo activity comes in. One booth will havechildren writing sayings on the shirts on how it makes them feel when they are bullied. The shirts, with the powerful words, will be exhibited.Reneau is asking for the community's help in collecting new, any solid-color or white, plain children-sized T-shirts for the event.The shirts can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday at The Porterville Recorder, 115 E.
