Source: Albuquerque Journal, N.迷你倉M.Sept. 06--Ian Cook has conquered Europe on tour opening for Frank Turner. He's also endured a summer on the famed Vans Warped Tour. But it's the current tour he's looking forward to most.Cook and his band, Larry and His Flask, will get to head out on the road with Murder By Death for the first time."We've known these guys for a long time," he says during an interview from Richmond, Va. "But we never could get a tour set up together. We're so excited to be able to get out with them and experience this tour."The tour, which is an odd one, features the punk bluegrass sound of Larry and His Flask, teamed up with the indie rock of Murder By Death.Cook says it will be interesting to see how the two bands fare during the tour."Yes we do have different fan bases," he says. "But I believe that they will get it because our fans are music lovers, plain and simple."During the tour, Cook and crew will perform songs from their new album, "By the Lamplight." The rest of the band includes Dallin Bulkley, And儲存ew Carew, Jamin Marshall, Jeshua Marshall and Kirk Skatvold.Cook says "By the Lamplight" was put together differently than the band's previous albums."We didn't get a chance to road-test any of the songs," he says. "This was quite different for us. We're used to trying them out with an audience then we tweak them. This time around we wrote the songs and then just recorded them."Cook says the songs were written and recorded while the six men were holed up in a cabin in Michigan in the winter."We were forced to write during that month," he says. "It was good in the sense that we couldn't be distracted. We didn't have that much space to ourselves and we were able to connect with each other on a musical level. I think this approach really pushed our music on this album.
