Source: The Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionAug.新蒲崗迷你倉 14--A UPS cargo plane crashed on approach to the airport in Birmingham at about 6 a.m Wednesday, an FAA spokeswoman confirmed.The two pilots on board died, April Odom, director of communications for Birmingham Mayor William Bell, confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at 10 a.m."The crash of UPS Flight 1354 occurred about one-half mile north of Runway 18," Kathleen Bergen, FAA spokeswoman, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution at about 8 a.m. "Local authorities will release information about the conditions of the flight crew."The Airbus was en route from Louisville, Ky. to Birmingham.United Parcel Service is based in Sandy Springs. It is the second biggest company in Georgia and the world's largest package delivery company.The company has a fleet of more than 300 airplanes, including the Airbus A300. The A300 is described as a short- to medium-range widebody jet airliner.According to the flight-tracking website, flightaware.com, the plane landed at the UPS hub in Louisville around midnight after a flight from Acapulco, Mexico, and took off again at 5:04 a.m. for the 45-minute flight to Birmingham.The airplane crashed in the vicinity of Airport and Huffman roads near Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, the Birmingham News is reporting.Bergen said the National Transportation Safety Board is in charge of the investigation and will determine probmini storageble cause.In a statement, NTSB said it is launching a full Go-Team to investigate. Senior Aviation Investigator Dan Bower will serve as investigator-in-charge.UPS issued a statement shortly before 8 a.m., saying: "At this time, we are still determining the details of the incident. We will release more information as it becomes available. As we work through this difficult situation, we ask for your patience, and that you keep those involved in your thoughts and prayers."In a statement, Airbus said the company "regrets to confirm" the crash.The aircraft involved in the accident was delivered to UPS from the production line in 2003, Airbus said.The aircraft had accumulated approximately 11,000 flight hours in some 6,800 flights.
